Recording of the 3rd episode of the webinar series is now available

Why do we still question climate change despite the scientific consensus? What techniques are used to mislead us, and who benefits most from spreading disinformation? What can libraries do about it? Watch the recording of the webinar, which took place on 30 September 2026.

This was the third in a series of four webinars organised as part of the ESC-MISINFO project, in which we focus on developing young people’s information and media literacy using escape room-style games.

During the session, we discussed, amongst other things:

  • key facts about the climate,
  • why we still doubt climate change despite the scientific consensus,
  • the techniques used to mislead,
  • who benefits most from disinformation,
  • the role libraries can play today in countering climate disinformation.

As the session showed, disinformation doesn’t need to change anyone’s mind to work, because sowing doubt is enough. That is why libraries, as trusted local institutions, are perfect places to help people recognise manipulation, debunk fake news and raise people’s awareness about climate change.

Our expert was Patryk Zakrzewski, Vice-President of the Demagog Association, the longest-running Polish fact-checking organisation, where he is responsible for international cooperation and education.
